New CPIM Class Schedule Announced

APICS SCTX has released a CPIM preparatory class schedule for the 2010-2011 year. Here are important facts about the upcoming classes:

• All classes are in weekend format; classes are all day on consecutive Saturdays
• Prices for each class are as follows:

• • Non-Member: $450
• • Member: $395
• • Student: $120

• Class pricing includes books, but not the cost of the certification test
• Currently, all classes are scheduled to be taught at Johnson Controls, 5680 E. Houston St.

Continuing Professional Education is vital in today’s workplace; it allows you to keep your skills current and fresh, and can also open doors to potential promotions or increases in job responsibility. APICS provides professional certifications that are sought after in industry, as well as non-certification training programs on more narrow topics of interest.

Professional Certifications

APICS provides two different professional certifications that are well-recognized in the industry. Click here to read a great article on the value of an APICS certification.

• Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM): This certification covers the essential terminology, concepts, and strategies related to demand management, procurement and supplier management, material requirements planning, capacity planning, sales and operations planning, quality control, and continuous improvement. The CPIM is appropriate for persons working in procurement, materials management, operations, or supply chain management. For more information on this certification, click here.
• Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP): The CSCP brings the entire value chain into perspective, giving you a truly end-to-end view of the supply chain and helping you become a global supply chain expert. For more information on this certification, click here. A CSCP prep class will be offered in Spring 2011; check for specific dates.

APICS SCTX Chapter provides exam preparation courses for the above certifications; the classes last over several weeks.
