Summer is upon us! Your APICS chapter will be on a Professional Development Meeting hiatus until September. We hope to have a new and interesting line-up of meetings for you for the upcoming fiscal year.
In the meantime, your APICS BOD will be busy this summer. We have our annual strategic planning meeting scheduled for August, and Rod Cantu is busy working on programs. Sean Clark is also introducing an updated webpage which should be available this month.
Congratulations to our new SCTX Board of Directors: President: Vern Teichroeb, Treasurer: Herb Rippa, V.P. Education: Pat Tarver, V.P. Programs: Rod Cantu, V.P. Marketing: Haroun Habeeb, V.P. Communications: Greg Mier, V.P. Public Relations: Roger Kort, Webmaster: Sean Clark, Academic Liaison: Dr. Juan Gonzalez, V.P. Membership: Kathy Allen, Company Coordinator: Mike Tucker. I would like to thank the Board and you, our membership, for your support this past year. I know Vern will do a great job as your new chapter President.
If you are looking for employment or are an employer and have openings, please let us know. We share that information as it becomes available to us. At this time we have several members looking for positions, and we have been able to send a couple of leads to them. We’re here for you.
Please contact Pat Tarver if you are interested in hosting CPIM or other APICS training classes. We are dedicated to promoting the APICS body of knowledge and keeping our area professionals current with APICS educational opportunities.
By now you should have received notification that the 2010 International Conference has been moved from Nashville, TN, to the Winn in Las Vegas. Slight date change as well: October 18 – 20. Please check the Society website (www.apics.org) for more details.
That’s it for me as your chapter President. Have a great summer!
Best regards,
Kathy Allen, President
APICS SCTX Chapter

President's Message, March 4th
12/06/10 14:14 Filed in: March 2010
It’s almost Spring Break time! We have decided to cancel this month’s Professional Development meeting so that our members can enjoy Spring Break and hopefully some much-needed family time. We are working on plans for a plant tour in April and will get that information to you as soon as it is available.
We had another good meeting in February. Thanks to Mr. Bill Rafferty of the South Central Region of the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC). His topic “Adjusting For Our Environment—Increasing Profitability Through Environmental Responsibility” was very informative. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Old San Francisco Steak House. We hope to hold additional meetings there in the future.
Several people from San Antonio attended the APICS Six Packed Conference from February 26-27, 2010 in Dallas. This conference was presented by our own Terra Grande District and offered many informative sessions. We are excited to announce that next year’s conference will be held here in San Antonio. Last week Vern Teichroeb and I also attended the Terra Grande District meeting. We had good interaction with officers of other chapters in our District and came away with many good ideas and opportunities to help our chapter grow. The feeling in the district seemed to be that economically things are looking up for our member’s companies.
We’re coming up to Board of Directors election time again. If you would be interested in serving on our board or knowing more about board positions, please contact me. We currently have an opening for a Company Coordinator, and we would be glad to have co-directors for many of our other positions.
Finally, welcome to new and renewing members Donald Lee, Danielle Tumblin, David Craven, Kenneth Dusseau and Michael Tucker. Thank you for your commitment to APICS. Please come to our Professional Development meetings and let us get to know you better.
We look forward to seeing all of you in April.
Best regards,
Kathy Allen, Chapter President
